A sitemap enables you to provide Google about your site. It simply consists of a list of pages on your website or blog. Creating and sending a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google's normal crawling process. Let's see how you can submit your sitemap to Google's own blog platform Blogger , but with a little foresight you can insert all the articles in the blog and not only the most recent.
STEP (to be followed if you have not yet started to use Google Webmaster Tools)
Access to Google Webmaster Tools (enough to have a Gmail account
- ).
- Paste the blog address in the text box "Click here to add a site" and click on "Add Site" . At this point
- Check the website (you need to tell Google that we are the owners of the site): Click "Verify your site" as a method of verification and
- choose "Add a meta tag ". Looks like an HTML code in bold (for example,
- meta name = "verify-v1" content = "kdiowi3375854jddndj9839j =" )
. Copy. Go Blogger in the management panel of the blog and, in particular, the tab Layout> Edit HTML and paste the copied code under the tag. Click "Save Template" . Back page of - Webmaster Tools and click "Verify" .
- TWO (insert full sitemap) On
go to
- Sitemap
- and click on "Add a Sitemap . Select "General Web Sitemap Add
- ". the Sitemap URL is: rss.xml? Max-results = 500 & start-index = 1 (to be copied into the empty field after the address of the blog)
- Click "Add General Web Sitemap" to confirm.
The insertion is now complete. The sitemap will contain more than 500 articles, from 1 (most recent) to 500 (the oldest). As soon as your blog will contain more than 500 items you can add other sitemap to make sure to list even the older ones (from 501 onwards). To do this, just repeat the steps in the "Second STEP - (insert full sitemap) "using, in Step 3, addresses this :
rss.xml? Max-results = 500 & start-index = 501 ", " rss . xml? max-results = 500 & start-index = 1001 "and so on. [sources: 1
